To provide an opportunity for youth in the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District, Hadley, Sunderland, Belchertown and surrounding communities to play organized hockey. To instill a sense of honesty, courage, and respect in our youth, as well as teach t
The Amherst Hockey Association hosts a thriving Girls’ Division that recruits, retains, and builds solid skills for girl players with on- and off-ice training, social events, scrimmaging, co-ed and girls’ teams, and more.
For the 2020/2021 season, we are hoping to offer a full-time 14U girls’ team, as well as a full-time 12U girls' team, who will be part of the Connecticut Girls Hockey League (CGHL). Evaluations are scheduled for March 2020 (see the AHA home page for details), and girls who are in the 2006-2009 birth years are encouraged to attend. For details on this team, email our Girls’ Division coordinator and CGHL representative Erin Flanagan at
We will likely also offer our Girls' House Team. The house team has 10-20 girls, many of whom were brand-new to hockey. Historically, 2-5 of our house team players move on to travel teams each year.
The Amherst Hockey Association is delighted to be one of the leaders in promoting girls’ hockey in Western Massachusetts. Visit the registration page for pricing and to register. If you have questions about the girls’ division, please contact our Girls Division Director, Erin Flanagan at .
The best way to build our girls’ division is through word of mouth and friends inviting friends. Parents, please consider telling others about our new division and our efforts to get more girls playing hockey.
If you have questions, ideas about building the girls’ division or wish to offer help with organizing, please send an email to Erin Flanagan at .
All-Girls House Team
The 2015/2016 girls' house team
The all-girls house team was started in 2015 and has been a roaring success, with 19 girls the first year, and in the second year 27 girls plus a waitlist. No skating or hockey experience is required and girls ages 8-18 are eligible. The team skates twice per week and has occasional games against other House teams in Massachusetts. Girls who also skate on co-ed travel teams with the Amherst Hockey Association are also welcome to join this team's practices. The all-girls house team is supported, in part, by a 2016 Massachusetts Hockey grant. The journalism program at UMass did a nice write-up and video on the team, which you may access here: http://amherstwire.com/14886/tvmovies/all-girls-youth-team-breaks-sports-stereotypes/
